Bring your Biggest Issues

Whether you're dealing with questions of identity, life transitions, coping with grief and loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, sexual compulsivity or other addictions.

We can find a path toward healing, your path.

LGBTQ-Affirming Therapy

I am an LGBTQ-affirming therapist and I work in and with the community.  I know the unique issues involved, including identity and stigma, discrimination, shame and the threat of violence. Sometimes the least safe place can be in your own family, not to mention the culture.

My office is a Safe Zone. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

I created a video series called OUT & INformed, about issues in the LGBTQ Community. If you want to check them out, click the link below.

Addictions

I work extensively in the field of addictions. Ultimately, addictive behaviors are about getting or getting rid of some feeling, or just trying to numb out. But it comes at a very high cost; shame, disconnection, loss and hopelessness. And we can't numb selectively. We can't numb our pain without also numbing our joy, passion and connection to life. People self medicate with drugs & alcohol sex, porn, gambling, food, and myriad ways. Recovery is Possible.

Mens Issues

A man needing to see a therapist

A special focus of my work is with Men and Men's Issues

I know how much courage it can take for a man to enter therapy, and to ask for help. I honor your commitment to your life and your relationships. Many men in our culture struggle to understand, express or tolerate their emotions. It does not need to stay that way.

Healing Is Possible

Depression & Anxiety

Depression, fear, shame and anxiety can take control over your life. Some of the ways we learn to cope with these often makes things worse. Cycles of obsession, hopelessness and numbing destroy lives. With the right kind of help, you can recover motivation, perspective, and joy and live a life you love.

Trauma, PTSD & EMDR

Trauma impacts people's lives in varied and profound ways. It can even shatter lives. AND it's possible to overcome trauma, even the trauma of growing up in dysfunction, disconnection or abuse.

  • Shock Trauma
  • Complex trauma
  • Developmental trauma

Trauma can be shock states, trapped in the body or result from complex traumatiic events over a lifetime. Early misattunement can lead to developmental trauma.

I am trained in EMDR, a trauma-focused therapy that is evidence-based and shown to help adaptively process traumatic memories and alleviate suffering.

Relationships

Healthy relating is a struggle for many people. Multiple factors including trauma, fear, attachment and your family of origin can affect your abiity to remain present, loving and connected. And shame only makes it all worse. The right kind of counseling can help you strengthen and deepen your emotional connections across all of your relationships.

Some Common Questions...

Do You Take Insurance?

I do not take insurance, though I can provide you with a "superbill", an invoice you can send to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Every plan is different, so contact your insurance company for more information on working with an  "out of network therapist".

In many cases, the cost after reimbursement is similar to your copayment.

Is Therapy Confidential?

Yes, the relationship between therapist and client is privileged and protected by law. So what is said in my office, stays in the office. There are some limits to confidentiality, involving child and elder abuse and threat of harm to you or another.

How Much does Therapy Cost?

My fee is $130

I accept cash, checks & credit cards

I can provide you an invoice to seek reimbursement from your insurance company.
